The injection
of a suitable stiff grout, designed to compact, displace 'problem' ground to improve
bearing capacity, protect against settlement.
The grout usually comprises
cement : sand : pfa : bentonite mixed to produce a stiff 'cheesey' consistency.
Injection takes place 'through
the lance' to a designed depth and pattern and involves the formation of a bulb
or lozenge of grout as the lance is retracted the process is controlled by limiting
the volume and / or pressure of the injection.
